Last night was a landmark moment as we cut the rear bus (1970 vintage) into two pieces, the first step in making the buses one unit. We once again had our official BRC Ranger/DPW staff (Porn*) member on hand to make sure we drank our beer correctly and also do some of the cuttin’ with the plasma cutter.
Turns out VW buses are a lot stronger than the look in the roof department. Access holes had to be cut to allow the torch head to reach additional layers of material that really makes the roof stout. A hi-lift jack was then used to push the two sections apart…leaving us with nothing but a few wires and random do0-dahs holding the halves together. Some snipping ensued, and now the pieces are separate.
